2010 Silk Screen Opening Night Gala — In this Year of the Tiger, Silk Screen plans to start off spring with a roar
Pittsburgh, PA – March 23, 2010 – The Silk Screen Asian American Film Festival’s opening night Gala promises to be the most exotic and colorful event held in the ‘Burgh. The Gala will be held at the prestigious Omni William Penn Hotel on May 7th after the festival’s opening night film. Doors to the red carpet event will open at 8:00 pm and the celebration will continue until midnight. Silk Screen invites attendees to wear their most colorful ethnic dress, from saris, kurtas, sarongs, cheongsams, hanboks, to kimonos and other traditional attire. Cocktail garb is required otherwise.
The cultural dress won’t be the only striking sights of the night. Asian artists will be presenting dances, music, and other exciting performances including singers, fire-eaters, belly dancers, Bollywood and Bangra performers, and many more. Silk Screen’s fifth annual Gala will also feature incredible tastes from around Asia. Exotic dishes from India, Korea, Japan, and more will compliment the cultural experience of the night.
The Opening Night Film will start at 7:00pm and will be held at the Harris Theater. Tickets for the Opening Night Film and the Gala will be sold for $115, and $135 after May 1st. Gala tickets will be sold for $100, and for $120 after May 1st. All tickets can be purchased online or by calling 724-969-2565.
We invite you to walk down the red carpet and mingle with celebrities at this unique and exotic event. Silk Screen is a non-profit organization that honors Asian culture through film and cultural events. This year’s 5th annual Asian American Film Festival will be held May 7th-16th.
